23 Read this line from the poem.
inn [45]

Answer:

B. Ray Bradbury.

Explanation:

The line <em>"Friends departing to take up a post on Mars"</em> is from the poem "Post Early for Space" by Peter J. Henniker-Heaton where the speaker talks of settling into other planets and invading beyond the earth. He compares this to the American settlers, setting sights onto new directions.

The idea that man will soon settle on Mars and set up homes had already been written about by Ray Bradbury in his 1950 novel "The Martian Chronicles". In it, he describes an expedition to the red planet and how man inhabited the planet, eventually moving their families from Earth to Mars. Thus, this idea of <em>"tak[ing] up a post on Mars"</em> is related to Bradbury's fictional novel.

Therefore, the correct answer is option B.

Write a story that ends with I had never felt so embarrassed in my life
Makovka662 [10]

Answer:

Story with the ending "I had never felt so embarrassed in my life".

Explanation:

Once during my college years, I had confidently volunteered to help out in the inter-college competition. Our college was hosting the event and so many volunteers were required for the event to help organize things and get everything ready for the day. Not really knowing what was required of us, I volunteered to be assigned to any work, as did most of my friends.

But I did not expect what was to be needed of me. Most of my friends end up helping either in the decoration or arrangement of seats and other required areas while I was assigned to the guest list and making sure everything was on point and ready for the guests. But what I did not expect was the need to welcome each and every guest that arrived and make sure they are kept up-to-date with the events and plans while at the same time, required to help out with their every query.

Before the main day, one of the faculty guests, Mrs. Kapoor had gotten sick and so the organizers had decided to ask another colleague of hers, Mr. Singh, to give the speech instead. I was given the task of informing Mr. Singh about the change in plans, which I was confident of doing well. But amidst the throng of people and the continual arrival of other guests, I was so caught up with welcoming the guests and at times, answering their queries that I totally forgot about the errand that I was supposed to do. By the time I realized my 'errand', it was all too late. So, imagine my horror when the welcome speech was to be made. Mrs. Kapoor wasn't there while Mr. Singh had absolutely no idea he was supposed to give the speech. When he was called on stage to give the speech, he blurted out that he wasn't informed about the change of plans. And it was all my fault that he had to make an impromptu speech then and there. The worst part was that almost everyone knew it was my responsibility to inform him about the change of plans. I had never been so embarrassed in my entire life.
