Mesopotamia had an excellent geographic setting for the people living in the area to be able to develop well. The two large rivers the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers had created a valley. This valley was very fertile because of the deposits that the waters left each year. Because the soil was very fertile and the climate constantly warm, the people were able to produce a lot of food, thus they solved the basic problem, resulting in much more spare time and engaging into numerous other fields. The valleys were surrounded by deserts, which was a natural protective barrier from invaders, as most of them were not willing to risk going for days in the open deserts as it was too risky. The safety gave the people living in this area much easier life, so they were able to focus on developing without having the fear of being attacked or constantly be in war with someone else.
There are many negative aspects that came along with the boom of industrialization. One of the most commonly discussed negative effects was rampant child labor. Very young children, often poor and unprotected by child labor laws, were forced to work in dangerous factories for very long periods of time. They were exposed to many harmful substances and were vulnerable to workplace accidents that put them in great peril. In addition, industrialization often led to overcrowded and poorly organized living conditions, especially for poor people. These conditions were also very unsanitary and contributed to the spread of diseases. The air was polluted by factory smoke, which also contributed to the deterioration of individuals' health. Hope these facts help.
