If f(x)=x-1/3 and g(x)=3x+1, what is (f*g)(x) 3x+1 x-3
crimeas [40]
This is a composite.  Another way to write them is f(g(x)).  Take the function g(x) and stick it in for x in f(x).  Like this: f(g(x))= \frac{(3x+1)-1}{3}.  But we aren't done cuz there's some simplifying there to do.  f(g(x))= \frac{3x}{3} and canceling out the 3's we get just a simple x as our answer.  The choice is the last one above as your answer.

Of the 1,000 students in a local college, 420 own brand X mobile phones and 580 own brand Y mobile phones. Of these students, 80
egoroff_w [7]
If we were to put this in terms of a venn diagram, we would have 360 owning only brand X, 500 owning only brand Y, and 80 in between, owning both. Therefore, 80 out of the 580 owners of brand Y may have X as well, which we put into fraction form 80/580, and reduce to 4/29.

What is a number written to the thousandths place that would relate to 417.91 using the = symbol?
baherus [9]

Answer:

0.41791

Step-by-step explanation:

let x be the number written to the thousandth place then,

x times thousands = 417.91

or, x = 417.91/1000

therefore, x = 0.41791

and so

0.41791 thousand = 417.91

If g(x)= -(3/(4x)) , find g(g(x)) please show work.
ivann1987 [24]

Answer:

g(g(x)) = x

Step-by-step explanation:

g(x) = -\dfrac{3}{4x}

g(g(x)) = -\dfrac{3}{4g(x)}

g(g(x)) = -\dfrac{3}{4(-\frac{3}{4x})}

g(g(x)) = -\dfrac{3}{4} \div (-\frac{3}{4x})

g(g(x)) = -\dfrac{3}{4} \times (-\frac{4x}{3})

g(g(x)) = \dfrac{3 \times 4x}{4 \times 3}

g(g(x)) = x
