Researchers wanted to see which species of lizard (A, B, or C) is most likely to survive a bacterial infection. So they infected

a total of 38 lizards and recorded how many survived after 48 hours. Of the 15 species B lizards, 40% survived. For those that were species C, one more survived than died. And of the 24 lizards that died, one-third of them were species A.
a. Create a contingency table to display this data.

b. What proportion of these lizards in this study were either species A or B?

c. What is the probability that a species C lizard in this study did not survive?

Answer:

A) attached below

B) 0.61

C) 0.47

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data:

Total number of lizards infected = 38

Of the 15 species B lizards 40% survived

For specie C one more survived than died

Out of the 24 lizards that died 1/3 were species A

<u>A) contingency table </u>

attached below

<u>B) Determine the proportion of these lizards in this study that were either specie A or Specie B </u>

P ( A or B ) = ( 8 + 15 ) / 38 = 0.605 ≈ 0.61

<u>C) determine the probability that specie C lizard did not study </u>

P ( not surviving  | C ) = 7 / 15 = 0.466 ≈ 0.47

If you have one-fourth seven times, then all you have to do is multiply one-fourth times 7 to get the answer.

\frac{1}{4} * 7 =  \frac{7}{4} = 1  \frac{3}{4}

7 copies of one fourth is one and three quarters.

Linda made $30,000 in taxable income last year.Suppose the income tax rate is 15% for the first $7000 plus 18% for the amount ov
seropon [69]

Given:

Income made last year = $30,000

Tax rate for the first $7000 = 15% = 0.15

Tax rate for the amount over $7000 = 18% = 0.18

Let's find the amount Linda must pay in income tax last year.

To find the amount she must pay, we have:

Tax for first $7000 = 0.15 x 7000 = $1050

Tax for amount over $7000 = 0.18 x (30000 - 7000)

= 0.18 x 23000 = $4140

Therefore, the amount she must pay in income tax is:

T = $1050 + $4140 = $5,190

Linda must pay $5,190 in income tax for last year.

ANSWER:

$5,190
