For more than 1000 years Constantinople was the capital of the Byzantine empire. It had an strategic position for trade, and many trading routes passed through there. It was the biggest and richest city in all of Europe.
Petrarch was pulled between two worlds, the ideal world of antiquity and his desire to improve the current world. He believed he could learn to make the world a better place by studying classical literature. He, along with other humanists, admired the formal beauty of classical writing. He attempted to share the teachings of classical texts by studying them, and then, imitating them in Latin writings of his own.
Legalism does not concern itself with familial matters. In addition, Legalism only focused on family members in their capacity as citizens. On the other hand, Confucianism consisted of roles that were to be assumed by family members in an ideal society. Hope this helped!
