jim has three times as many comic books as Charlie Charlie has two thirds as many books bob. bob has 27 books how many comic boo
Trava [24]

Answer

Find out the how many comic books does Jim have.

To proof

Let us assume that  comic books Jim have be u.

Let us assume that  comic books Charlie have be v .

Let us assume that  comic books  bob have be w .

As given

jim has three times as many comic books as Charlie

thus

u = 3v

Charlie has two thirds as many books bob.

Thus

v = \frac{2w}{3}

bob has 27 books .

i.e w = 27

Put this in the equation

v = \frac{2w}{3}

v = \frac{2\times 27}{3}

Solving

v = 18

thus

comic books  Charlie has be 18 .

Put v = 18  in the u = 3v

u = 3 × 18

  = 54

comic books Jim has be 54 .

Hence proved

The surface area of an oil spill gets 105% larger every day, represented by the function s(x) = (1.05)x − 1. On the first day, i
ioda
The given scenario above is like a geometric sequence with r or common ratio being 1.05 and the first term being 31 square meters. The nth term of the sequence is calculated through the equation,
                        A15 = (A1)(r)^(n - 1)
Substituting,
                        A15 = (31)(1.05)^(15 - 1) = 61.3778 square meter
Therefore, the area covered by the spill after the 15th day is approximately 61.4 square meters.

Find an equation for the line which passes through (-1,3) and is perpendicular to the line containing (0,3) and (4,7). The equat
pishuonlain [190]

Answer:

Equation of the line is y = -x + 4

Step-by-step explanation:

When the two lines having their slopes m_{1} and m_{2} are perpendicular to each other then m_{1}\times m_{2}=-1

If m_{1} is the slope of the line passing through two points (0, 3) and (4, 7) then

m_{1}=\frac{y-y'}{x-x'}

= \frac{7-3}{4-0}

= 1

Now slope of the second line perpendicular to first line will be

m_{2} = -\frac{1}{m_{2} }

m_{2} = -1

Slope intercept form of the equation of a line is represented by

y = mx + c

where m = slope

c = y intercept

Since the line is passing through (-1, 3) and slope = -1, therefore,

3 = -1 + c

c = 4

Now we plug in these values in the equation.

y = -x + 4

Equation of the line is y = -x + 4
