Ironically, to protect itself the Chinese opened relations with the
United States when Nixon went to China.
Later on, China though communist started economic reforms that were
capitalists in nature. The USSR later
collapse and Russia became a democratic country and adopted capitalist reforms.

Oil Change International estimates that the United States spends $37.5 billion on subsidies for fossil fuels every year. In Theory, less-developed nations will have a hard time keeping up with the renewable energy due the equipment cost.
