is achieved when both sides of a composition look exactly the same by arranging
elements on either side of the center of a composition in an equally weighted
manner. It can also be thought of as 50/50 balance or a mirror image.
Symmetrical balance is used to achieve the effect of order, clarity and
consistency.</span>
I connotative interpretation is when the viewer judges a painting not for the content of the image but what emotions the painting evokes and what deeper meanings the painting has.
E.g. Picasso's masterpiece, Guernica, is a painting that heavily relies on connotative interpretation due to its roots in political activism and a rejection of the violence and horrific events of The Spanish Civil War.
Music from the Romantic period or era (1850-1900) is characterized
by personal, emotional and expressive style and composition. The melodies and
lyrics of music from this period evoke more emotion than other styles of music.
Compositions from the Romantic era of music revolved around themes of: nature,
the supernatural, magic, dreams experiences of love or negative feelings and so on.
Improv is when you do something that is not planned or written in the music. For instance a singer can provide improv by doing a run or adding in an extra note or something of that nature. improv is mostly a drama term that is used for an unscripted scene between two or more actors, typically they are given a topic and thrown into a scene with no prep time.
