A researcher was interested in knowing whether the mean weight of the second baby is higher, lower, or about the same as the mea

n weight of the first baby for women who have at least two children. She selected a random sample of 20 women who had at least two children and asked for the weights of the first two at birth. She found that the mean of the differences (first - second) was 5 ounces, and the standard deviation of the differences was 7 ounces.
Required:
a. Why was the researcher's study design better than taking independent samples of mothers and asking the first sample about the weight of their first baby and the sec_ and sample about the weight of their second baby?
b. Define the parameter of interest. Use appropriate notation.
c. Write the mean of 5 ounces and the standard deviation of 7 ounces using appropriate statistical notation.
d. Find a 90% confidence interval for the parameter that you defined in part (b). Write a sentence or two interpreting the interval.

Lynn has a watering can that holds 32 cups of water, and she fills it half full. Then she waters her 21 plants so that each plan
notka56 [123]

Amount of water Lynn's watering can can hold = 32 cups

As she fills it half full means she fills it with 32/2= 16 cups

Number of plants watered from 16 cups = 21 plants

As, each plant gets same amount of water, so each plant gets =

\frac{16}{21} cups or 0.76 cups of water

Hence, each plant gets 0.76 cups of water.

Neko [114]

Answer: 40.6

Step-by-step explanation:

When finding perimeter, you have to add all sides. 16 plus 16 equals 32. 4.3 plus 4.3 equals 8.6. 8.6 plus 32 equals 40.6

When 18 boys joined a group of why students, the ratio of boys to girls in the group became 4 : 5. Write an algebraic expression
expeople1 [14]
18 /(y + 18) = 4/9 <<<<===== answer.
be careful the number of boys is in a ratio of the number of boys to the total.
Just to make sure I'm right, I solve it.
18 * 9 = 4*(y + 18)
162 = 4y + 72 Subtract  72 from both sides.
 90 = 4y Divide by 4
22.5 = y Never mind the 0.5. Does it work

18/22.5 = 0.8
0.8 is the same thing as 4/5
The problem makes no sense in the real world, but it does work out mathematically.
