What is the area of the figure?
mrs_skeptik [129]
We see that the shape is made up of 2 shapes:
trapezoid and triangle
(trapezoid is on top of upside down triangle)

area of trapezoid=(1/2)(b1+b2)(h)
area of traignel=(1/2)(b)(h)

area of trapezoid
b1=14
b2=18
h= ok so total height=17 and 12 is taken up by triangle os therefor h=17-12=5

A=(1/2)(14+18)(5)
A=(1/2)(32)(5)
A=(16)(5)
A=(80)

now area of triangle
H=12
B=18
A=(1/2)(18)(12)
A=(9)(12)
A=108

add
80+108=188

total area=188mm^2

Write the following as an algebraic expression. Then simplify.
Ratling [72]

The sum of three even consecutive integers if the first integer is y will be 3y + 6.

First integer = y

Second integer = y + 2

Third integer = y + 4

Therefore, based on the expressions given above, the sum of the three integers will be:

= y + y +2 + y + 4

= 3y + 6

Therefore, the sum will be 3y + 6.
