What is a possible result of low levels of activity caused by being overweight?
Rama09 [41]

Answer:

Answer below.

Explanation:

To know if a person is overweight we calculate their Body Mass Index which is their weight in kilogrammes divided by the square of their height in meters.

Being overweight is a precursor to obesity. Living a sedentary lifestyle while being overweight is bad for your health. It increases the levels of bad fat in the body and this can lead to insulin resistance by the body cells causing sugar to build up in the blood and ultimately leading to diabetes disease.

Low level of physical activity while overweight is also bad for your joints as it puts too much weight on them and might cause arthritis.

Increased levels of unhealthy fats in the body can cause them to block the small vessels circulating blood and this can lead to stroke and hypertension.

To prevent these complications, people should make efforts to control their weight by applying various lifestyle changes. Such changes as regular exercises, brisk walking , using the stairs, cutting down on high calorie foods and eating healthy helps bring weight to normal physiological levels.

Discuss the difference between short-term and long-term fitness goals. Provide an example of each.
Debora [2.8K]

The short-term fitness goal can be achieved in weeks and long-term fitness goals are time consuming and is set by one’s own self as the ultimate fitness goal.

Short-term fitness goals are the goals that we achieve in less time. Like working out four times a week, eating less fatty foods or cutting of fast foods. An example of the short-term goal is- increasing the workout times in a week. These goals are achieved in a fast and shorter-period. Unlike the short-term goals, the long-term goals demand more time and more dedication to achieve the fitness.

The long-term goals include the target of losing 30 pounds and it obviously needs longer period of time to attain it with a long process of dieting, working out and a healthy life style.

Describes the hypoglycemic effect of insulin?
Savatey [412]

Answer:

Insulin causes hypoglycemia by :

1) Increasing the uptake of glucose from the blood by the liver and muscle.

2) Increase glycogen synthesis by liver and muscle.

3) Increased utilization of glucose by increasing glycolysis.

4) Increased uptake of glucose from the blood by adipose tissue converting it into fats.

Explanation:

Excess insulin or other diabetes medications may cause the blood sugar level to drop too low, causing hypoglycemia. Insulin regulates how the body uses and stores glucose and fat. Insulin decreases the blood sugar levels by increaing their transport in the cells and causing its breakdown too.

Hypoglycemia causes dizziness weakness hunger trembling palpitations. Excess hypoglycemia may damage the brain causing seizures and loss of conciousness.
