Answer:

11.2

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you get the volume of the right prism by multiplying the length times the width times the height, which is 2.5 cubed. Then we subtract the volume of the cylindrical hole. We do this by doing pi times the radius squared times the height, which is pi times 0.75 squared times the height. This will yield 11.2 cubic millimeters.

According to statistics, a person will devote 34 years to sleeping and watching TV. The number of years sleeping will exceed the
Nata [24]

Let the number of years of watching TV be

x

.

The number of years sleeping exceeds the number of years watching TV by

18

. This means that the number of years sleeping is higher than the number of years watching TV by

18

and can be represented by

(x+18).

The total time is 34

years. So we can form the following equation and solve for the required values:

x+(x+18)=34

x+x+18=34

2x=34-18

2x=16

x=16/2

x=8

Thus, the number of years watching is 8

and the number of years sleeping is

8+18=26

.

This question is not even trying to test your arithmetic.  It's just testing
to see whether you know how to read numbers in words properly.

When you read numbers in words, the only time you ever say "and"
is for a decimal point.  There are no decimals in this question, so the
"and" is not a part of any numbers.

The question gives you two numbers. The word "and" is the marker
that's BETWEEN them.  The two numbers are 1,300 and 950 .

The first thing the question wants you to do is write the numerical
expression for all the words.  That's    (1300 - 950) / 4 .

The next thing you're supposed to do is"evaluate the expression" ...
find out what number it all boils down to.  I don't think you'll have
any trouble with that now.

inn [45]

Answer:

1.3

Step-by-step explanation:

BC is the distance between B and C.

BC = x − (-0.4)

BC = x + 0.4

AB is the distance between A and B.

AB = -0.4 − (-1.25)

AB = -0.4 + 1.25

AB = 0.85

Substitute into the equation.

BC = 2AB

x + 0.4 = 2(0.85)

x + 0.4 = 1.7

x = 1.3
