I also had suggested he could have been more strict in choosing the crew because no all the men were adventurous and loyal, that is why Magellan had mutinies during the expedition. Finally, as a difficult exploration, it was, to get medical doctors on board.

Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan left the port of Spain to start an expedition that aimed to find a sea route to the West in order to arrive in the Islands of Indonesia. He was the first to circumnavigate the globe. Magellan’s crew were 270 men in five ships. They headed to West Africa and then to Brasil. They sailed until they found the strait that took them to the Pacific Ocean. Magellan’s expedition did not conduct trade along the way. It was just exploration and most of his men died before completing the mission.
