2.1.43 A particular hybrid car travels approximately 235 mi on 5 gal of gas. Find the amount of gas required for a 705-mi trip.
o-na [289]

Answer: 15 gallons of gas is required for a 705 miles trip.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Number of miles in a trip = 235 miles

Number of gallon of gas is needed = 5

We need to find the amount of gas required for 750 miles trip.

Since there is direct variation, as for increase in number of miles, amount of gas must be increased.

According to question, it becomes,

\dfrac{235}{5}=\dfrac{705}x}\\\\47=\dfrac{705}{x}\\\\47x=705\\\\x=\dfrac{705}{47}\\\\x=15\ gallons

Hence, 15 gallons of gas is required for a 705 miles trip.

Zoe paid 18.60 in sales tax and tips for dinner. The sales tax is 11% and she tipped 20%. What was the price of Zoe’s dinner bef
photoshop1234 [79]

Answer:

$60 was the price of Zoe's dinner, before sales tax and tip.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Sales tax = 11% * original price = 0.11 * x= 0.11x
  • Tips for dinner = 20% * original price = 0.20 * x = 0.2x
  • 0.11x + 0.2x = 18.60
  • 0.31x = 18.60
  • x = 60
  • $60 was the price of Zoe's dinner, before sales tax and tip.

In a conjunction, / is true when both / and / are _____; otherwise, / is _____.
Crank
So from the onset, the answer to this question would be OPTION B.In a conjunction, / is true when both / and / are<span> TRUE</span>; otherwise, / is FALSE.

A conjunction refers to a compound statement, developed by combining two statement often through the use of the word 'AND'.  For example, the two statements, 'Roses are Red' (statement p) .... 'Violets are Blue' (statement q), can be combined to form a conjunction that reads 'Roses are Red and Violets are Blue.'  When it comes to conjunctions, it is or equivalent to the intersection of the two sets of statements (p and q → p ∩ q) which therefore means that <span>in order for the conjunction to be true, both statements must be true, otherwise, the conjunction is false.
</span>
Attached below is a truth table that seeks to further explain the point (note: ^ represent the conjunction).

Which of these is a factor in this expression?
REY [17]

A factor for this biquadratic polynomial equation is 9(y^3+3).

<h3>What is the factor of a polynomial equation?</h3>

The factor(s) of a polynomial equation are numbers or expressions, that if multiplied together, give the result of the original polynomial equation.

The original polynomial equation is calculated as:

= 6z^4 -4+9(y^3+3)

=  6z^4 - 4+9y^3 + 27

= 6z^4 +9y^3 + 23

The factor from the biquadratic polynomial equation is 9(y^3+3).
