When Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, their current understanding of a cell was a simple blob or building block of life. It was therefore not outlandish to think that such a building block could in fact have been created by accident in a primordial soup without intelligent forces acting upon it. However, giving the complexity of not only the design but the processes that cells fulfill, for example the Flagellar motor, it is nearly impossible to believe that such a thing could come about by natural processes that we can observe today.</span>
