With the Renaissance, trade and exploration became prevalent. This caused many European nations to try and conquer lands that were then uncharted, leading to the displacement and enslavement of many indigenous populations.

The Pure Food and Drug Act passed when Theodore Roosevelt pushed Congress to ensured sanitary in meatpacking plants.

1911- Triangle waist shirt factory fire.

The Triangle Shirtwaist Company factory in New York City caught fire and burned, and killing 145 workers. The tragedy led people to look at the conditions of factories. It also led to the development of laws and regulations for the safety of workers.

1912- 16th and 17th amendment ratified.

16th amendment allows for the collection of income taxes for all citizens by the federal government.

17th amendment allowed the individual states in America to increase their powers.

1919- 19th amendment is passed.

Under this amendment, alcohol banned in the United States through its transport, production, and selling.

1919- 18th amendment is passed.

Under the Presidency of Woodrow Wilson, the 19th amendment passed and ensures all American women the right to vote. Achieving this it required a struggle which started from the women suffrage movement.
