Suppose someone takes out a home improvement loan for $30000. The annual interest on the loan is 6% and is compounded monthly. T

he monthly payment is $600. Let a denote the amount owed at the end of the nth month. The payments start in the first month and are due the last day of every month - this means in a given month interest is added first, and then the payment is applied to the resulting loan Balance. (a) Give a recursive definition for a,. including the recurrence relation and the base case. (You can readily check your thinking by setting up a spreadsheet to track the loan balance.) (b) Suppose that the borrower would like a lower monthly payment. How large does the monthly payment need to be to ensure that the amount owed decreases every month?

Answer:

(a)f(n) = f(n-1)*1.005 - 600

(b) 150 USD

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the annual interest is 6% and interest is compounded everymonth and added at the beginning of the month. The the monthly interest is 6 / 12 = 0.5%

(a)From there we can give a recursive definition for the dept owned at nth month

f(n) = f(n-1) + f(n-1)*0.005 - 600 = f(n-1)*1.005 - 600

where f(0) = 30000

(b) For the amount owed to decrease everymonth, the monthly payment must be larger than the interest added at every month

that is payment > f(n-1)*0.005

payment > 30000 * 0.005

payment > 150 USD

So the monthly payment needs to be at least 150 USD for the dept to decrease.

The six numbers in a set are 137, 128, 250, 136, 129, and 138. Which measures of the data increase when the outlier is included?
Leni [432]
Range increases. This is because range is the biggest number minus the smallest number. So when the biggest number is much bigger than the rest of the numbers, the range increases.

What can probabilities be written as?
vredina [299]

Answer:

Probabilities can be written as fractions, ratios, or as a percentage.

Step-by-step explanation:

If someone asks to flip a coin for heads or tails it has a probability of 1:2, 1/2, or 50% to land on either sides.. They all mean the same value.

Triangle ABC has vertices at A(−3, 4), B(4, −2), C(8, 3). The triangle translates 2 units up and 1 unit right. Which rule repres
Nataly [62]

Answer:

The translation statement is given by:

(x,y)\rightarrow (x+1,y+2)

After the translation, the coordinates of vertex A is (-2,6).

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

Vertices of a triangle ABC are:

A(−3, 4), B(4, −2), C(8, 3)

The triangle is translated 2 units up and 1 unit right.

To find the co-ordinates of point A after translation.

Translation rules.

For shift of c units up, the translation is given as:

(x,y)\rightarrow (x,y+c)

For shift of k units right, the translation is given as:

(x,y)\rightarrow (x+k,y)

So, it says the triangles is translated 2 units up and 1 unit right.

The translation statement is given by:

(x,y)\rightarrow (x+1,y+2)

So, co-ordinates of point A after translation is given by :

(-3,4)\rightarrow (-3+1,4+2)=(-2,6)

After the translation, the coordinates of vertex A is (-2,6).

one x-intercept for a parabola is at the point (2, 0). use the quadratic formula to find the other x-intercept for the parabola
omeli [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 3 ways to find the other x intercept.

1) Polynomial Long Division.

Divide x^2 - 3x + 2 by the binomial x - 2, because by the Factor Theorem if a is a root of a polynomial then x - a is a factor of said polynomial.

2) Just solving for x when y = 0, by using the quadratic formula.

x^2 - 3x + 2 = 0\\x_{12} = \frac{3 \pm \sqrt{9 - 4(1)(2)}}{2} = \frac{3 \pm 1}{2} = 2, 1.

So the other x - intercept is at (1, 0)

3) Using Vietta's Theorem regarding the solutions of a quadratic

Namely, the sum of the solutions of a quadratic equation is equal to the quotient between the negative coefficient of the linear term divided by the coefficient of the quadratic term.

x_1 + x_2 = \frac{-b}{a}

And the product between the solutions of a quadratic equation is just the quotient between the constant term and the coefficient of the quadratic term.

x_1 \cdot x_2 = \frac{c}{a}

These relations between the solutions give us a brief idea of what the solutions should be like.
