HIPAA was put in place to protect the health information of patents, meaning if you have a disease or a disability, than only YOU are aloud to tell them but no one else is, it also CAN protect you from being fired do to that disability and/ or disease
a duty of care is owed by an accountant in correctly preparing a customers tax returns, to minimize the chance of an irs audit. the next example would be a student completing homework assignments.
