Answer

Anita did not use the distributive property properly and the real answer is

x = -11.6

Step-by-step explanation:

The mistake that she did was not using the distributive property properly.

Based on the property

5(x + 12) = 2

5x + (5)(12) = 2

5x + 60 = 2

5x = 2 - 60

5x = - 58

x = \frac{-58}{5}

x = -11.6

Answer:

Her mistake was subtracting twelve from both sides even though it was in the parentheses.

Step-by-step explanation:

Anita did not follow the order of operations

Anita made the mistake of subtracting 12 from both sides. WHat she should have done was multiply the five into the parentheses

5(x+12) = 2 -----------> 5x + 60 = 2

then she should have subtracted 60 from both sides

5x = -58

and lastly divided 5 from both sides

x= -58/5

I would believe that the answer is 20,00 because i like to use the saying 5 or above give it a shove, for or less let it rest. So you use this saying for the number behind the number it says to round to. Which in this case is 4 so because according to the saying it says let it rest if the number is 4 or less. So that is how i got my answer :D Hope you understand now!!!

Write an equation of the line that passes through (2,-1) and is parallel to the line y=-3x+8
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

y = - 3x + 5

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

y = - 3x + 8 ← is in slope- intercept form

with slope m = - 3

Parallel lines have equal slopes, then

y = - 3x + c ← is the partial equation

To find c substitute (2, - 1) into the partial equation

- 1 = - 6 + c ⇒ c = - 1 + 6 = 5

y = - 3x + 5 ← equation of line

Answer:

  F = 3.84×10^23/R²

Step-by-step explanation:

No units are given for distance, so we cannot give a constant of proportionality that has suitable units.

The general form for inverse square variation is ...

  F = k/R²

Then the value of k can be found from ...

  k = F·R² = (6×10^5)(8×10^8)^2 = 3.84×10^23

The formula relating the given F and R is ...

  F = 3.84×10^23/R²
