The final description of Jack is as follows: “… a little boy who wore the remains of an extraordinary black cap on his red hair

and who carried the remains of a pair of spectacles at his waist”. Why do you think Golding used the phrase “little boy” to describe the menacing, horrible Jack in the end of the book? What is he trying to tell us about mankind?

I just finished this book for english class. you could say that the author used the phrase little boy to describe how even for jack being young he still turned out to be a terrible person. i think he’s trying to show us that anyone at any age can turn into a different person depending on the situation they are put in.

What internal conflict does the external conflict in this passage
Marizza181 [45]
The answer would have to be option B "Elenita struggles to keep her identities separate." This option seems to be the best fit. It's not option A because she said she DOESN'T want to invite any of her friends over. It's not option C because I dont see anything in this excerpt that has to deal with her father not wanting to return to Puerto Rico. It's also not option D because she's just saying that her friends would die of culture shock if they see her house therefore she's not loosing any faith. So, the answer would have to be option B.

Good luck.
