egoroff_w [7]

Python can be used to implement central of tendencies such as mean, median and mode using the statistic module

The program in Python, where comments are used to explain each line is as follows:

#This imports the statistics module

import statistics

#This defines the function that calculates the mode

def calcMode(myList):

   #This prints the mode

   print(statistics.multimode(myList))

#This defines the function that calculates the median

def calcMedian(myList):

   #This prints the median

   print(statistics.median(myList))

#The main method begins here

#This initializes the list

myList = []

#The following iteration gets input for the list

for i in range(10):

   myList.append(int(input()))

#This calls the calcMode method

calcMode(myList)

#This calls the calcMedian method

calcMedian(myList)

Recall that the name of a transport-layer packet is segment and that the name of a link-layer packet is frame. What is the name
AlladinOne [14]

Answer:

A network-layer packet is a data gram. A router forwards a packet based on the packet's IP (layer 3) address. A link-layer switch forwards a packet based on the packet's MAC (layer 2) address.

Explanation:

When the end system receives the unstructured bit stream from the physical wire, each layer removes the header information applicable to it until the application receives the data.

1. An application, such as an email program, creates data that will be sent by an end user, such as an email message. The Application layer places a header (encapsulation) field that contains information such as screen size and fonts, and passes the data to the Presentation layer.

2. The Presentation layer places layer 6 header information. For example, the text in the message might be converted to ASCII. The Presentation layer will then pass the new data to the Session layer (layer 5).

3. The Session layer follows the same process by adding layer 5 header information, such as information that the Session layer will manage the data flow, and passes this data to the Transport layer (layer 4).

4. The Transport layer places layer 4 information, such as an acknowledgement that the segment was received in the header, and passes it to the Network layer (layer 3).

5. The Network layer places layer 3 header information, such as the source and destination address so the Network layer can determine the best delivery path for the packets, and passes this data to the Data Link layer (layer 2).

6. The Data Link layer places layer 2 header and trailer information, such as a Frame Check Sequence (FCS) to ensure that the information is not corrupt, and passes this new data to the Physical layer (layer 1) for transmission across the media.

7. The bit stream is then transmitted as ones and zeros on the Physical layer. It is at this point that the Physical layer ensures bit synchronisation. Bit synchronisation will ensure the end user data is assembled in the correct order it was sent.

8. Steps 1 through 7 occur in reverse order on the destination device. Device B collects the raw bits from the physical wire and passes them up the

Data Link layer. The Data Link layer removes the headers and trailers and passes the remaining information to the Network layer and so forth until data is received by the Application layer. Eventually, Device B will receive an email notification displaying a message to indicate that a new email message has been received.

When should you use a union type component in a structured variable?
Eduardwww [97]

Answer:

The answers to 1st question and part 2A is given. However, the 2B is not given complete and thus cannot be answered.

Explanation:

UNION is a keyword used in C Language to have a commonly shared memory that can be used by multiple elements. It is a data-type that allows different data types to use the same shared memory location.

Importance: If you want to minimize the use of memory by sharing it between different datatype variables, then use UNION. For Ex. Let's suppose I want to use 2 variables a and b of type char and int respectively. Now, suppose int takes memory space of 2 bytes and char takes 1 byte then the total amount of memory needed = 2 + 1 = 3 Bytes. But, we want to first make use of a, and once done, we want to declare variable b. We can limit the memory use by declaring a memory space of 2 bytes (max of a and b). First, we can use this space to store the int variable and when done with it, we can use it to store the char variable.

PART 2A

typedef struct{

  int partNum;

  char partName[25];

} partin;

#define Partin partin

For the following code, if the input is negative, make numitemsPointer be null. Otherwise, make numitemsPointer point to numitem
weeeeeb [17]

Answer:

The program to this question can be described as follows:

Program:

#include <stdio.h> //defining header file

int main() //defining main method

{

int* numItemsPointer; //defining pointer variable

int numItems; //defining integer variable

scanf ("%d", &numItems); //input value from user end

if(numItems < 0) //defining if block to check value

{

   numItemsPointer = NULL; //assign value to null

   printf ("Items is negative\n"); //print message

}

else //else block

{

   numItemsPointer = &numItems; //holds address

   numItems = numItems * 10; //multiple by 10

   printf("Items: %d\n", *numItemsPointer); //print value

}

return 0;

}

Output:

99

Items: 990

Explanation:

In the above program two integer variable "numItemsPointer and numItems" is defined, in which numItemsPointer is a pointer variable and numItems is integer variable, in which we input value from the user end, and an if condition statement is used, that check and calculate the values, which can be described as follows:

  • In the if block a condition is defined that variable "numItems" is less then 0, if this condition is true so, inside the block, it will assign a value, that is equal to "NULL", and prints its value.
  • If the condition is not true it will go to the else block, in this block, it will first pointer variable holds the variable address, and multiply the value by 10, and prints pointer variable value.
