It really depends what you are going to use your computer for but a laptop does more I feel if you have a laptop you have more options for carrying it around and they are more user friendly. If you want a desktop they are not portable but they can do a lot more technical things like writing code and making audio or video. It really comes to what you need. I personally prefer laptops but it depends on what you need
