masya89 [10]

The cross-section perpendicular to the base of a right rectangular prism is a rectangle.

<h3>What is a three dimensional shape?</h3>

A shape or a solid that has three dimensions that is length, width and height is called a 3D shape. 3D shapes have faces, edges, and vertices. Examples are cylinder, cone, prism, pyramid.

A shape that has two dimensions is called a 2D shape. 2D shapes have breadth and length.

Simply (tan^2 x - sec^2 x)(sin^2 x + cos^2 x)
kati45 [8]

we can use pythagorean identieis

remember that sin^2(x)+cos^2(x)=1

also remember that tan(x)=\frac{sin(x)}{cos{x}} and sec(x)=\frac{1}{cos(x)}

so if we take sin^2(x)+cos^2(x)=1 and divide both sides by cos^2(x) we get

\frac{sin^2(x)}{cos^2(x)}+\frac{cos^2(x)}{cos^2(x)}=\frac{1}{cos^2(x)}

(\frac{sin(x)}{cos(x)})^2+1=(\frac{1}{cos(x)})^2

tan^2(x)+1=sec^2(x)

subtracting 1+sec^2(x) from both sides

tan^2(x)-sec^2(x)=-1

now subsitute into original problem

\frac{tan^2(x)-sec^2(x)}{sin^2(x)+cos^2(x)}=

\frac{-1}{1}=

-1

the answer is -1

For a crane to lift the beam shown to the right, the beam and the two support cables must form an isosceles triangle with heigh
Fittoniya [83]

Answer:

The total length of the two cables is 2\sqrt{145}\ units

Step-by-step explanation:

see the attached figure to better understand the problem

we know that

In the right triangle ABD

Applying the Pythagoras Theorem

AB^{2}=BD^{2}+AD^{2}

substitute the given values

AB^{2}=9^{2}+8^{2}

AB^{2}=145

AB=\sqrt{145}\ units

Remember that

AB=AC  ----> because ABC is an isosceles triangle

so

The total length of the two cables is equal to

AB+AC=2AB=2\sqrt{145}\ units

Help me with just ONE question. Please
Novay_Z [31]
A) by completing the square... X^2-8x+16+20-16 = (x^2-4)^2 +20-16=(x^2-4)+4

B) Since the coefficient of x^2 is positive, it is a quadratic function which increases positively. You know that it will always be above the x axis and therefore positive since the vertex is at (4,4) and increasing
