Answer:

A

Explanation:

Throughout the passage, the author takes the stance that too much gaming is unhealthy and is a bad obsession for young people.

Let's analyze the answer choices.

A.

This choice is correct. The passage states that "young people become obsessed with video games". The author also says that "many gamers play indoors...They rarely do any outside activities, including exercise." If a sentence about the harmful effects of no exercise was added, it would help support the argument that too much gaming is harmful.

B.

This choice is incorrect. This sentence has nothing to do with the fact that excess gaming is bad.

C.

This choice is also incorrect. A release date for the PlayStation 3 doesn't help persuade the readers that too much gaming is not good.

D.

This choice is also incorrect. Games without consoles do not support the argument that gaming in excess is bad.

The best choice is A: A lack of physical activity can lead to obesity and diabetes.

Which phrase describes facts and details that an author states directly in a text? (1 point)
m_a_m_a [10]

The phrase that describes facts and details that an author states directly in a text is;

  • Explicit information

The facts and details that an author directly states in a text are explicit information. Explicit information is plainly described to the audience leaving no room for guessing or deductions.

Implicit pieces of information are those that require the audience to make guesses or interpretations based on the few pieces of information provided.

If, for example, the author states; <em>"That leader was a dictator who had no love for the people", </em>he has provided explicit information. We do not have to interpret the character of the leader.

It is revealed plainly in this piece of information.

Answer:

The Tell Tale Heart

By: Edgar Allen Poe

Claim: The storyteller believes that he is not crazy although he is.

From the beginning the narrator was attempting to convince the reader that he was not crazy although he was bothered over his neighbors eye. The pace of the story-line began from the narrator admitting how he had a bad feeling whenever the old man's vulture eye looked at the narrator but didn't think that the narrator was crazy over it. Soon enough throughout the story the narrator was driven crazy over the vulture looking eye from the old man and decided to kill the old man. Although from the readers perspective it seems too look like the narrator was crazy, the narrator did not think so. The narrator had planned very meticulously over the thought of killing to old man and acted out on it. Once the deed was done, the police came by to check because a neighbor reported suspicious activity by the old man's home. The narrator let the police in the house to search it and the narrator had explained how the old man was gone to visit a friend out in the country and the police believed him. But the narrator's guilt got to him and put him on edge. He behaved more and more suspicious and finally let a cry out of admitting to killing the man because the narrator thought the policemen were on to him. The way that the mood affected me was that the narrator had begun to admit that he was a normal person, perfectly fine. But once the narrator put out the exposition it started to give out the expression that he was crazy and him denying that he wasn't crazy made the narrator even more suspicious. To conclude my claim, I see that narrator is genuinely crazy and that even though he convinced his own self and attempted to prove the reader he wasn't crazy, in the end he was.
