Answer:

The answer is #2

Explanation:

The fight between the Portuguese and the Ndongo people had gotten to a stage where peace needed to be brokered. The Portuguese had other arrangements in mind and this became feasible at the conference. The Ndongo were driven out of their court in Kabasa, which made the king officially in exile. The Portuguese did not want to proceed with the treaty if the king was in exile and unbaptized. As a result, the Portuguese never honored the treaty and they continued to raid the kingdom, taking Africans as captives and precious items in the process.

gayaneshka [121]

Distracted drivers under the age of 20 involved in fatal crashes were reported to have been distracted while driving, according to NHTSA.

What is distracted driving?

Distracted driving is defined as any activity that diverts attention away from driving, such as talking or texting on your phone, eating and drinking, conversing with passengers, fiddling with the stereo, entertainment, or navigation system — anything that diverts your attention away from the task of safe driving.

Texting is the most hazardous distraction. For five seconds, reading or sending a text message diverts your focus from the road. That is the same as traveling a football field with your eyes closed at 55 mph.

You cannot drive safely unless you give your whole attention to the task of driving. Any non-driving activity is a possible distraction and raises your chances of accident.

What do you think is Paine’s purpose in this excerpt from Common Sense? Cite evidence from the excerpt to support your claim.
Strike441 [17]
The main content of the passage is to present a possible situation in which a violent leader imposes the law on the country by force ("at the point of the sword"), which presumably leads to many deaths. This was what has happened, in Paine's interpretation under William the Conqueror in England. The intention is to show that this situation is undesired in America and to encourage Americans to fight against such a government.
