When placing accents in Spanish we must keep in mind that there are four types of words: agudas, llanas, esdrújulas and sobresdrújulas.
Agudas: Are those words that’s have the stress on the last syllable. -Camión -Pintor They carry an accent only when they end in n, s or in a vocal.
Llanas: Are words in which the stress falls in the next to the last syllable. Lápiz Carta They carry an accent only when they do not end in n, s or in a vocal.
Esdrújula These are words that carry the accent in the third syllable and always have the accent mark. Teléfono
Sobresdrújulas These are words that carry the accent in the fourth syllable and always have the accent mark. Alfabéticamente
The preterite tense of the irregular verbs IR, SER, DAR, VER are FUISTE, FUISTE, DISTE and VISTE. They express a past action or state.
