The ___ method can help resolve problems logically
Hitman42 [59]

The Scientific method can help resolve problems logically.

Explanation:

A logical and systematic approach that is used for the discovery of working of things in the world is known as Science. The scientific methods are used by the scientists for the purpose of evidences that can be measured and associated with the assumed hypothesis. The result of this method will be either supporting or contradicting to the theory.

The term "science" refers to the knowledge whose base is from some reproducible data. The result is obtained through the process of analysis and testing. It aims in finding solutions to any problem through logic and research.

Once pathogens have penetrated the non-specific barriers, they are confronted by macrophages and natural killer cells. how do th
laiz [17]

Answer:

When a pathogens cross non-specific barriers (skin) they disturb the homeostasis of the body. however inside body they are confronted by different types of white blood cells which are responsible for bringing homeostasis again in the body. these are described below.

Role of macrophages in maintaining homeostasis

Macrophages are white blood cells (phagocytes) constantly patrolling in the body and destroy other cells by engulfing and ingesting them through the process of phagocytosis. These are produced in bone marrow cells as monocytes which have short life of only 10-20 hours. Once monocytes leave the blood they become macrophages. From bone marrow to the blood, macrophages are transported to the area of the body where they are needed. Macrophages engulf the whole body, after digesting particles (bacteria) can extrude the residual particles. Thus, provide protection by trapping and destroying microorganisms entering the tissue. They also secrete different proteins. Some of these proteins trigger the maturation of monocytes into macrophages, thereby increasing their numbers. Another protein interleukin-1 signals the brain to raise the body temperature, producing fever. The higher temperature aids the immune response and inhibit the growth of invading microorganisms.

Role of natural killer cells in maintaining homeostasis

They are another class of white blood cells that don’t directly attack invading microbes. Instead they strike at the body’s own cells that have been invaded by viruses. Virus infected proteins bear viral proteins on their surfaces. Natural killer cells recognize and kill cancerous cells. They secrete proteins into plasma membrane of the infected or cancerous cells. They also secrete enzymes that break up some of the molecules of the target cells, as a result the target cell soon dies.

The liver plays an important role in modulating blood glucose levels by removing glucose from the blood during periods of abunda
hodyreva [135]

Answer: glycogen is insoluble in water

Explanation:

Glycogen is a better storage of glucose because Glycogen is insoluble in water thus, because of the glycosidic linkages. Storing glucose as glycogen will not upset the osmotic pressure rather than glucose which is soluble in water and if it is stored as glucose it will disturb the osmotic pressure making the solution hypertonic that will cause the cell to lyse.

The glucose from glycogen is readily mobilized and is therefore a good source of energy when needed rather than free floating glucose

Which substances are contained in saliThe first line of defense involves which structure(s)?va and tears to break down pathogens
choli [55]

Answer:

Lactoferrin, lysozyme and peroxidase.

Explanation:

Lactoferrin, lysozyme and peroxidase are the substances which are present in the saliva and tears and work as a first line of defense in the body against harmful microorganisms in humans and animals. Lactoferrin helps to protect the body fromagainst DNA or RNA based viruses such as rotavirus and HIV. Lysozyme is a type of enzyme which prevents the growth of bacteria by breaking down the cell wall of bacteria.
