So when your divided fraction by fraction you switch the division sign in the middle to multiplication. For example 3/4 x 1/8 you multiply the 3 and the 8 which is diagonal from each other and the 4 by the 1 which gets you 24/4 .

Factorize the following expression ab-a-b+1
dolphi86 [110]

Group 'em together

a b − a + 1 − b

a b − a = a ( b − 1 )

Notice that there will be a 1 as without it it'll simply be  ab

1 − b = 1 ( 1 − b )

Notice that it doesn't match with the upper one... so we'll change the signs

1 ( 1 − b ) = − 1 ( b− 1 )

(try to multiply them now!!

Jot them down in one expression

a ( b − 1 ) − 1 ( b − 1 )

You get!!!!!!

( a − 1 ) ( b − 1 )

2) The fish population in a local stream is decreasing at a rate of 3% per year. The population in 2005 was 48,000. What is the
Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer:

30396 fish.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are in 2020, that is, 15 years have passed since 2005, to calculate the population it would be:

The first year there would be 48,000, then each year it decreases by 3%, that is, the first one was like this:

48000 - 48000 * 0.03

That is to say:

48000 * (1 - 0.03)

Now, depending on the year number it would be:

48000 * (1-0.03) ^ n

But how were 15 years n = 15, then:

48000 * (1-0.03) ^ 15 = 30396.057

The fish population would be 30396 fish.

If I work three hours of day and make $7.25 an hour how much do I make a year
yarga [219]
First of all we are going to take $7.25 and multiply it by 3 here is the math
7.25 x 3 = 21.75
so this means he makes 21.75 dollars a day.
since there are 365 days a year. Now i'm not saying he worked every single day but the question does not say other wise
so we would take 21.75 and multiply it by 365 heres the math
21.75 x 365 = 7,938.75
this means he makes 7,938.75 dollars a year!!
