Let us systematically break our problem into hypothesis, testable version of hypothesis, constant, and variables.

Hypothesis: In the experiment, you will determine whether having worms in the soil affects the growth of lima bean plants.

Variables: Independent variable - presence of worms, dependent variable - amount of growth in lima bean plants (measured as the change in length of the plant shoot)

Constant: Amount of soil, amount of water given to the plant.

Our question would be a testable version of the hypothesis.

Testable hypothesis:

1. Presence of worms in soil will promote growth of lima bean plants.

2. Presence of worms in soil will stop the growth of lima bean plants.

Null hypothesis: Presence of worms in soil will not affect the growth of lima bean plants.

While trying to answer the question our goal will be to first reject the null hypothesis by gathering evidence through experimental observation. Then, we will test the parts 1 and 2 of the testable hypothesis.

In a wild-type strain of Drosophilathe size of a gene from the start to stop codon is calculated to be 2000 nucleotide pairs. Ho
Kruka [31]

Answer:

The correct answer is option E) "The presence of one or more introns".

Explanation:

Introns are non coding sequences located within genetic sequences that are removed during RNA maturation by a process known as RNA splicing. A gene that has 2000 nucleotide pairs but is translated into a mRNA molecule with 1200 nucleotides most likely have one or more introns that in conjunction are of 800 nucleotides in size. Once the intros are removed from the mRNA molecule the coding sequence is ready to be translated into a protein.

Up to what concentration is carbon dioxide a limiting factor for photosynthesis in low light intensity?
Mariulka [41]

Answer:

<u>Carbon Dioxide limits photosynthesis at a concentration of around 400 ppm (ambient concentration) in low light.</u>

Explanation:

Limiting factors affect the photosynthetic rate, decreasing the potential amount of carbohydrate made via photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is essential to this form of biosynthesis- it provides the inorganic carbon that is integrated into carbohydrate molecules.

Carbon dioxide is typically present in the atmosphere at concentrations of 0.04%. Light intensity typically cause stomata to open, and increase CO2 uptake. Higher concentrations of CO2  up to 0.1%, cause dramatic increases in the photosynthetic rate.

Low light, thus means less stomatal opening, and less CO2 uptake. As low light intensity can be limiting, it lowers the concentration of Carbon dioxide at which the rate becomes constant.
