area=legngth tiimes width
legnth is 10 more than 2 times width
l=10+2w
lw=area=(10+2w)w=10w+2w^2
area=3600
3600=10w+2w^2
so divide by 2
1800=5w+w^2
subtract 1800 from both sides
(note they used x instead of w)
0=w^2+5w-1800
then the facotred form is (w-40)(w+45)=0

0 product property measn if you have xy, then x and or y =0

therefor
w-40=0 and w+45=0
w=40 or -45
discard negative because negative legnth is not possible

explian how solution relates to situation
it is math so it is correct because we represented it corrrectly

the other solution is because of math and eliminate negative legnth becasue tha tis not possible
basically because we represented it correctly
not a very clear quetion to answer

basically 'because it represents the solution so we solved it and it is correct'

Solve the linear system using substitution. Show your work.
-8x + 3y = -33
y = -5x + 35
kondor19780726 [428]

Answer:

x = 6 y = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

-8x + 3y = -33

y = -5x +35

-8x + 3(-5x + 35) = -33

-8x - 15x + 105 = -33

-23x + 105 = -33

-23x = -138

x = 6

-8(6) + 3y = -33

-48 + 3y = -33

3y = 15

y = 5

At an amusement park, 3,750 out of 5,000 tickets sold were discount tickets. What percentage of the tickets were discount ticket
grigory [225]

Answer:

The percentage of discounted tickets with respect to total tickets is 75 %

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The total tickets of amusement park = 5,000

The total discounted tickets of amusement park = 3,750

Let The percentage of discounted tickets with respect to total tickets = D %

Now, According to question

The discounted percentage = \dfrac{\textrm Total number of discounted tickets}{\textrm Total number of tickets} × 100

or, D = \frac{3750}{5000} × 100

or, D = 0.75 × 100

or D = \frac{75}{100} × 100

∴ D = 75 %

So, percentage discounted tickets = D = 75 %

Hence The percentage of discounted tickets with respect to total tickets is 75 % . Answer
