Crocodiles that ignore birds cleaning their teeth instead of eating them is an example of __________. a. parental care b. habitu
Nostrana [21]

The correct answer is Option (B) Habituation.

Crocodiles ignore the birds which clean their teeth instead of eating them. This is an example of habituation.

Why do crocodiles show habituation toward the birds which clean their teeth?

It's an evolutionary phenomenon that when a bird used to sit in a crocodile’s mouth, the crocodile didn't eat it, instead, the crocodile used to allow the bird to sit in the mouth and clean the teeth of the crocodile so that they can alive longer, whereas the birds could get the free food from the crocodile’s mouth. It is an example of the symbiotic relationship between the two.

So, the same is the case today, crocodiles are habituated to the fact that the birds will clean their teeth so instead of eating them, these birds are being ignored by the crocodiles.

Why is it important to study the theory of plate tectonics and continental drift?
Dvinal [7]
It is practical knowledge in the sense that we know why some parts of the world are inherently risky to live in. Even though volcanic eruptionis, earthquakes and tsunamis are difficult to predict, it makes sense to have building codes and emergency plans that take this into account.

It is science’s response to the beliefs that natural catastrophes (volcanism, earthquakes and tsunamis) are divine punishments for the evil ways of some individuals.

Even if you will never use or apply this knowledge, knowing about the theory of plate tectonics gives you a current scientific perspective on what we know about the natural world.

It is a good example of how scientific theories proceed by trying to fit several observations into a coherent explanation.

Learning about the observations that needed to be made and explained for the theory to win over scientists helps caution you against people who adopt belief systems without questioning the myths told to them, or those who try to profit from ignorance of how nature actually works.

When it is well taught, it should convince you that, like any scientific theory, plate tectonics is a “work in progress”. New discoveries continue to be made, and it takes creative and logical thinking, debate and a quest for more observations in order to determine which ones prove or challenge the current theory and which ones may lead to its refinement.

When Mendel crossed a plant homozygous for round seeds to another plant homozygous for wrinkled seeds, he found that all the pro
gulaghasi [49]

Answer:

E

Explanation:

Gregor Mendel discovered the principles that governs heredity. In one of his experiments, he discovered that an organism receives two forms of a gene called ALLELE from each parent. He realized that one allele is capable of masking the expression of its variant pair in a gene. He called the allele that masks or is expressed, DOMINANT allele while the allele that is masked, RECESSIVE allele. He termed this principle the LAW OF DOMINANCE.

The above explained law of dominance is what applies in the question here. When the homozygous round allele and wrinkled allele were crossed, the allele for round seeds are dominant over the allele for wrinkled seeds (recessive) i.e. in a heterozygous state (combination of the different alleles), the round allele will mask the phenotypic expression of the wrinkled allele, expressing itself over it.
