<span>Job opportunities were still extremely limited. They did achieve some voice with election to positions in government. But education and public place were still segregated so they did not technically receive a fair shot.</span>

I’m pretty sure there was a huge worry for a nuclear war which caused a lot of americans to become paranoid. america took advantage of the cold war to push anti-communist propaganda which was called “the red scare”. it was VERY successful and despite russia not actually being communist (they were more state capitalist). but that’s why our grandparents, parents, adults, and even kids associate communism with stalin and russia

Problems associated with the "urban machine" were that they were undemocratic and were corrupt. They moved the political system to allow candidates to win based upon vote-buying, coercion, and other corrupt methods. They were therefore effective or ineffective depending on the relationship you had with the machine and also whether or not you wanted to see a democratic system or not.
