Answer:

1.the author uses this term, "Spreading Jelly on the truth" because it refers that someone was sugar coating the truth, basically making the truth sound nice and less harsh.

2.the author uses this term, "Gone floating after some man like a balloon on a string" because it is explaining that someone is chasing a man or attached to a man just like a string is attached to a balloon. The author could also mean that they were emotionally attached to the man.

Why does Henry david Thoreau think imprisonment is ineffective?
Olenka [21]
He believed being imprisoned (even if only for a single night) only kept his body imprisoned. His mind was still free and imprisonment only further fueled his philosophical thinking.
I hope this helps!

How is the following line a metaphor:<br> Then they swarm around me,<br> A hive of honeybees.
gavmur [86]

Answer: More context surrounding the question would help me to better solve the question.

Explanation:

I am guessing the following line is an excerpt from some class-sanctioned reading material. The sentence is a metaphor because it literally compares the swarming of whatever is surrounding the Character to a group of bees buzzing around their hive. Bees are small and lovely insects that often fly fast - by comparing their flight patterns to whatever your main character might be going through gives off the impression that they are in a stressful situation.
