Devil is Id

Explanation: The Ego, Superego, and Id are instances that form the human psyche. This according to the Personality Theory(1923), developed by Sigmund Freud in his studies on psychoanalysis.

Ego is the mechanism responsible for the balance of the psyche. It seeks to regulate the impulses of the Id while trying to satisfy them in a less immediate and more realistic way.

Superego  consists in the representation of the moral and cultural ideals and values of the individual.

Id consists of the desires, wants and primitive drives, formed mainly by the instincts and organic desires for the pleasure.

Has krakauer made the case that the prevailing alaska wisdom is wrong? why or why not?
leonid [27]
I don't think Krakauer was trying to completely discount this idea. Krakauer was pretty clear about the fact that Chris entered the Alaskan wilderness unprepared and under experienced. Krakauer spends a lot of time juxtaposing Chris's hero worship of writers like Thoreau and Emerson with the realities of living in the wild. I think that Krakauer was trying to say there was more to Chris McCandless than his ill-fated trip into the Alaskan wildernedd. Chris had personality traits, counter-cultural or otherwise, that we could all learn from.
