Answer:

area of circle is 113.04 (i used 3.14 for pi) 3.14 x 6^2

area of square is 24 - 12 x 2 = 24

area of square without circle is 89.04 - 113.04 - 24 = 89.04

Does point (-6, -7) lie on the circle centered at (-2,-8), that contains the point (2, -9).
Nesterboy [21]
Equation of circle:
(x+2)^2 + (y+8)^2 = 17

Point (-6, -7)

(-6+2)^2 + (-7+8)^2 = 17
(-4)^2 + (1)^2 = 17
16 + 1 = 17
17 = 17

Answer is YES

How to solve: <img src="https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=log_%7B3%7D%20%28x%2B6%29%20%2B%20log_%7B3%7D%28x-6%29%20%3D%204" id="TexFormula
Shalnov [3]

Collapse the logarithms into one:

\log_3(x+6)+\log_3(x-6)=\log_3((x+6)(x-6))=4

Then write both sides as powers of 3:

3^{\log_3((x+6)(x-6))}=3^4

(x+6)(x-6)=81

Simplify the left side and solve for x:

x^2-36=81

x^2=117

x=\pm\sqrt{117}=\pm3\sqrt{13}

But we're not done yet. Notice that both x+6 and x-6 are negative when x=-3\sqrt{13}. We can't take the logarithm of a negative number (the result isn't real-valued, anyway), so we throw this solution out, and we're left with just

x=3\sqrt{13}

Which of the following expressions can be combined?
Rom4ik [11]

Answer:  Choice C

Work Shown:

2\sqrt{12} - 6\sqrt{27}\\\\2\sqrt{4*3} - 6\sqrt{9*3}\\\\2\sqrt{4}*\sqrt{3} - 6\sqrt{9}*\sqrt{3}\\\\2*2*\sqrt{3} - 6*3*\sqrt{3}\\\\4\sqrt{3} - 18\sqrt{3}\\\\(4-18)\sqrt{3}\\\\-14\sqrt{3}\\\\

In short,

2\sqrt{12} - 6\sqrt{27}=-14\sqrt{3}
