I would say the economy became more industrial and less agricultural based for the first one.

For the second one the cash crop was cotton

Explanation:

If u search cash crop south it will come up with cotton, tobacco, rice and indigo. I would say that cotton was their main thing though.

And for the second one I was stuck between the economy became more industrial and less agricultural based, and the economy remained mostly industrial based. I went with the first one cause it seems like America was making more money from manufacturing.
