Today there is little to no slavery, and slavery is illegal. people are no longer tortured and beat for the color of their skin, and can live freely dispose their color. however, in some areas there is still slavery, but there is a lot less than what there used to be.

Answer:

Racism is different from the past because nowadays most people don't tolerate racism. Racism isn't as strong as it was in the past, before racist Americans used to commit hate crimes against people of color and got away with it. For example, in the brutal murder of Emmett Till, the killers who tortured and killed a 14 year old boy, were never brought to justice because of the racism going on at that time. This doesn't mean racism doesn't still exist, in the police force there have been many murders against people of color who should have treated fairly instead of being killed on the spot.
