That was part of his larger pattern of overt racism that included targeting Mexicans, building a border wall, telling four congressional leaders of color — three of whom were born in the U.S. — to “go back” to the “places from which they came,” banning travel to the U.S. from mostly Muslim nations and calling nations with non-White populations “sthole countries.”
