The clash between Federalists and Anti federalists erupted during the constitutional convention of 1787 when Anti Federalists denied ratifying the constitution. Anti Federalists opposed the ratification of the 1787 constitution because of the fear that national government would become too powerful and hence the individual liberties would be threatened. They demanded a bill of rights to secure individual liberties. The First Amendment and the other nine amendments had to be passed for satisfying their demands, these amendments came to be known as Bill of Rights.
