Read the excerpt from “George Washington.” He did not infringe upon the policy making powers that he felt the Constitution gave

Congress. But the determination of foreign policy became preponderantly a Presidential concern. When the French Revolution led to a major war between France and England, Washington refused to accept entirely the recommendations of either his Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, who was pro-French, or his Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton, who was pro-British. Rather, he insisted upon a neutral course until the United States could grow stronger. Which is the central idea in this excerpt?

Where do accents and dialects come from?
ElenaW [278]
Different accents and dialects originate from various geographical locations of the speakers of a same language. This is because it is impossible to create a standardized form in which all people throughout a country speak, which is why certain lingual patterns that occur in certain geographical regions are deemed to be dialects.

What sound device is used in lines 19-24?
Airida [17]
Assonance and alliteration appear in this selection; however, assonance is the main sound technique.

Alliteration is used in "trembling Tyrant."

Assonance is the repetition of the same vowel sound in words that are near one another. Assonance is used in the repetition of the same /e/ sound in the words: "next," "bent," "<span>incensed," "sent," "fell," "destroyer." The same /i/ sound is repeated in the words "quickly," "brings," "shrinks."

Dive and five are a pair of eye rhymes?
otez555 [7]
It is false that dive and five are a pair of eye rhymes.
Eye rhymes refers to words which are written similarly, but have different pronunciations. For example, love and move - as you can see, their spelling differs only in one letter, but their pronunciation is not similar at all. This is not the case in dive and five - they are both written and pronounced similarly.
