She was one of the founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Over the course of a lifetime dedicated to combating prejudice and violence, and the fight for African-American equality, especially that of women, Wells arguably became the most famous Black woman in America.
Ida B. Wells is an important figure in the history of journalism because part of her career was worked as an investigative journalism, which no previous female journalists had done she also worked researching lynching and undercover the injustice surrounding how people (especially African-Americans and Women) sentenced to by lynched. She was the first female African-American investigative journalist, and she did undercovers, which makes her a lot different than other female journalists.
