gimme a paragraph about Barbara Jordan please. (early life, professions, husband/s (or wife if she was l/b )
alexira [117]
Barbara Jordan was born on February 21, 1936. She lived in her parents house back in Houston. Her father, Benjamin Jordan, worked as a Baptist minister and warehouse clerk. On the other hand, her mother Arlyne worked as a maid, housewife, and a church teacher. What inspired Barbara Jordan to be a attorney? Well, she attended to the Segregated Phillis Wheatley High School. It was career day, and a black lawyer named Edith Sampson inspired her to be a attorney. She was also apart of the Inaugural class at Texas Southern University. Barbara Jordan was apart of the democratic party politics for two decades. She was the first African American woman to be chosen as the state senate in Texas, and the first black texan in congress. She announced Richard Nixon’s 1974 impeachment hearings. Barbara Jordan soon retired after 3 terms in congress, to become a professor and policy advocate.

What is the effect of McKay's use of the pronouns she and her to refer to America?
juin [17]

McKay personifies America as a woman who feeds him "bread and bitterness" and who sinks her "tiger's tooth" into his throat. By using the pronouns she and her to refer to America, McKay turns the concept of a country into a person who can cause the narrator harm even while he loves her. The effect of this personification turns the relationship between the narrator and his country into a more personal relationship, full of the conflicting emotions that come along with loving a person.

Why would some people describe Carl Sandburg as a "regional" poet?
Tanya [424]

Answer:

He wrote mostly about the Midwest and its people.

Explanation:

Regionalism is when a writer wrote mostly about a certain geographical region, about the landscape, culture, and any features of a particular region. This means that the writer focuses on writing about that particular region and localized presentation.

Carl Sandburg can be described as a regional poet because his works mostly concern the Midwest area. His major works include <em><u>"The Chicago Race Riots (1919), Poems of the Midwest (1946), Chicago Poems (1916), and Cornhuskers (1918)"</u></em>, among others. His pattern of focusing on the people and culture of the Midwest made him a regional poet.

Thus, the correct answer is the third option.
