As described above, the condition will lead or cause the lung tissue to be less elastic. That being said, the lungs will be limited due to its stiffness. This will lead to decreased lung capacity as well as decreased vital capacity.

How do shoebills respond to changes in external temperature when it's too cold
grigory [225]

The adaptation of shoebills responds to changes in external temperature when it's too cold in their environment.

What changes occur to Shoebills in cold?

Shoebills have adapted long toes with no webbing which helps them to balance on the swampy vegetation while stalking prey. There are few predators of shoebill storks. Young and eggs may be taken by nest predators but shoebill storks can defend their young and build nests in areas unreachable to many predators. Shoebills eat big fish such as lungfish and catfish This bird eats crocodiles and they hunt like bosses of the swamp. The Shoebill will stand there motionless like a statue. Some birds fluff up their feathers and open up their wings to catch a breeze that helping them cool.

So we can conclude that If the temperature is very cold then the Shoebill can't go outside.

Why does the author compare self-deception to a drug in paragraph 6?
yulyashka [42]

Answer: B to show that drugs and self-deception can cause someone to ignore reality.

Ignore reality

There are many ways to escape reality, drugs being one of them. Every addiction, that is, every excess, betrays the presence of something behind it and keeps it alive. What sustains the addiction? The fear of facing reality, its own and collective. You run away from reality because you feel unable to sustain it. Without upholding the vision of truth, it is not possible to transform what is not good. Many stop at this first stage:

 • they can't stand to know
 • see and face the harsh and raw reality
 • and escape to an inner fantasy world nourished by a drug, a habit or a belief...

For anything that allows them to remain protected from sight of the real perceived as horrendous. The flight from the facts is an indication of emotional weakness, as you cannot bear the emotion of seeing the tragedy, but it is also synonymous with mental weakness, as you cannot think and process it, the tragedy. Brain and heart flee from reality and, thus, the individual remains in a state of minority. It is for the adult, that is, for the mature person, to know how to deal with What It Is. Therefore, behind every addiction there is an infantile condition structured around beliefs, rationalizations and "beliefs".

with this, we can say that the author wanted to compare how drugs and self-delusion can make someone ignore reality.

What substance is an important nutrient for pregnant women?
Pavel [41]
There are probably lots of answers to this question, but the one that comes to my mind is folic acid. Getting enough folic acid during pregnant help prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida in a baby. Hope this helps!

True/False
andrezito [222]

Answer:

This is true

These are the 3 factors:

 • Planet's Distance To Sun
 • Planet's Reflectivity
 • Planets Surface (Through Greenhouse Effect)

The thickness of the atmosphere, seems to be part of it, and I belive that is true, as it plays a role in temperature, determening wether if it can help with how warm or cold a planet is.

A planet's distance from the sun definitly plays a role, becuase depending on how far or close a planet is to the sun, the warmer it can be.

Planet's Surface goes through the process of greenhouse effect, causing a(n) planet to be able to get hotter
