Explanation:

Both pieces of literary work- "The Caged Bird" and the autobiography "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sing" by Maya Angelou talks of the restrained lives of the African- Americans. The poem and autobiography also mentions how the writer yearns for freedom and equality, not only for herself alone but for her whole people.

The idea of freedom that can be fund in both works are somehow connected in their own ways. <em>"Leaps on the back of the wind"</em> gives a sense of full freedom without any restraining force. Likewise, <em>"ran down the hill"</em> also shows the same feeling. Both phrases show the writer's feeling of being free, like a bird freely flying around. Thus, both these lines/ phrases connect to each other, representing the idea of freedom in each.
