Our minds race at 1,000 thoughts per second and when listening to lengthy talks or speeches, it is very easy for us to wonder away mentally. Physically is is also very easy, as the listener can get distracted from the environment, speakers attire, etc.

The main theme of the poem is freedom using the metaphor of a bird Maya evokes the pain of the people suffering without freedom and the people who is ignorant of the freedom that is given to them. For the bird it is very much difficult to see because they are not just bars they are “bars of rage”.

If it is the one about the fire and the boys. Then the speaker doesn’t like his father in the beginning because he isn’t able to play with his friends. At the end he is grateful because the boys got in trouble and he wasn’t involved.
