The 5 parts of the brain are cerebrum, cerebellum, brain stem, pituitary and hypothalamus.
The functions will be discussed in the explanation below.
Explanation:
The brain is a very essential part of a person's body. It controls and coordinates all of our actions and reactions. For example, it controls our speech, movement, thoughts and greatly affects other body organs.
The brain has many parts but the 5 major parts of the brain are as follows.
1. Cerebrum- This is the biggest part of the brain. This controls our thinking ability and voluntary movement. It also helps you in reasoning like when your teacher asks you why you forgot your homework and you find reasons for it.
2. Cerebellum- This is important for balance, coordination and movement. For example, you are walking in a straight line going to your classroom, the cerebellum helps you to do it.
3. Brain Stem- This has a very important function of connecting the rest of the brain to the spinal cord. It is in-charge of a person's breathing, digestion and blood circulation. It also controls involuntary muscles such as the heart muscle. The muscles in the heart continues moving even when we are sleeping.
4. Pituitary- This releases hormones for body's growth. This is the reason why we can't fit into our clothes anymore every time.
5. Hypothalamus- This helps control the temperature in the body. For example, you are exposed in the sun for long time, it tells the body to sweat . If you go to cold environment without wearing any warm clothes, it tells your body to shiver.
