In these lines, we are given a hint of the true relationship between Dr. Rank and Nora. Although he is a minor character in the play, it is often Dr. Rank who is able to see Nora more clearly than anyone else in the play. In this passage, we see that Nora talks about the love that her husband has for her, and Dr. Rank states that he is not the only person who loves her. This implies that Dr. Rank is also in love with her, and Nora most likely stopped the conversation to prevent him from confessing his true feelings.
