Legislature
A representative assembly of persons that makes statutory laws for a municipality, state, or nation.
A legislature is the embodiment of the doctrine of popular sovereignty, which recognizes that the people are the source of all political power. Citizens choose by popular vote the legislators, or representatives, whom they want to serve them. The representatives are expected to be sensitive to the needs of their constituents and to represent their constituents' interests in the legislature.

In what areas did people seek reform in the mid 1800s?
ozzi

Answer:

They seek reforms in the Industrial labor especially for the working class that worked unconditionally hard. That's also when equal rights for women started to spread eventually becoming feminism. The governments made new reforms to improve the conditions of the fabric workers and other heavy labor workers. For the women seeking equal rights they only got the right to be accepted in ALMOST any job up for them but still no right to vote or protection for them in case they suffer home violence.
