The energy emitted is a result of the nuclei's binding energy. The emitted energy comes from the fact that a helium nucleus is significantly less massive than the number of its constituents.

deuterium- the double the mass of the nucleus of ordinary hydrogen

nuclei- a structure occurring in most cells and is separated from the rest of the cell by a double layer
