So to start off you will need to substitute the Y into the equation. As shown in step one. Next you will need to solve for the parentheses by multiplying the 5 into the equation as shown in step 2. Once you do this you should get “ 4x +15x - 15 = 23. Next you will need to combine like terms! As shown in step 3. Next you will need to get rid of the 15 therefore you will add 15 from both sides as shown in step 4. By now you should get 19x= 38. Finally you will need to divide both sides by 19 as shown in step 5 and you will get the answer for x=2. Now that you have the number for x you will go back and substitute it back into the original problem as shown in step 6. Next you need to get rid of the 8 so you will subtract 8 from both sides as shown in step 7. After this you should have -5y=15. Next you will divide both sides by -5 to get the answer to “y” as shown in step 8. After this you should get your final answer as “ x=2 and y= -3

I hope this helps!!!!

Please Help, Lots of points
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

9 cats

Step-by-step explanation:

x = cat

y = dog

Set up equations.

x + y = 30

4.5x + 8.5y = 219

Multiply first equation by 4.5 and subtract.

4.5x + 4.5y = 135

-(4.5x + 8.5y = 219)

-4y = -84

y = 21

Substitute this y value into the first equation

x + y = 30

x + 21 = 30

x = 9

The ordered pair (a,b) satisfies the inequality y>x+10. Which statement is true?
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

b-a>10\\\\Difference\ of\ b\ and\ a\ is\ greater\ than\ 10.

Step-by-step explanation:

Ordered Pair: In an ordered pair (p,q) first value that is p represents x-value and second value(q) represents y-value.

Given\ inequality\ y>x+10\\\\Ordered\ pair (a,b)\ satisfies\ the\ inequality\\\\Hence\ x=a,\ y=b\\\\Substitute\ these\ values\ in\ the\ inequality.\\\\b>a+10\\\\\Rightarrow b-a>10\\\\That\ means\ difference\ of\ b\ and\ a\ is\ greater\ than\ 10.

4x^2=27x+40<br> Solve by factoring
worty [1.4K]

Answer: hewo, there! your answer is below

x= -5/4

or x= 8

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1: Subtract 27x+40 from both sides.

4x2−(27x+40)=27x+40−(27x+40)

4x2−27x−40=0

Step 2: Factor left side of equation.

(4x+5)(x−8)=0

Step 3: Set factors equal to 0.

4x+5=0 or x−8=0

hope this helps you
